Guide for Student Employees

Emergency Procedures

Campus Safety Emergency Action Plans:

Fire Alarms:

  • In the event of a fire alarm all occupants of the library (patrons and employees) must exit the building immediately in an orderly fashion either through the main doors or by an emergency exit.  Employees are not responsible for clearing the building of patrons.

Counseling/Students in Distress

The HWS Counseling Center provides free, confidential services for HWS students, including individual and group counseling; emergency psychological services; and outreach and educational programming. The Counseling Center also offers psychological consultation to students, faculty and staff as well as parents and families who are concerned about a student.

Water Leaks

During periods of heavy rain or snow the library does sometimes experience water leakage.  Problem areas include the ceiling on the third floor and the "greenhouse" windows facing North (especially on the second floor).  All library employees are encouraged to keep an eye out for such issues and notify supervisors immediately.
