Customer Service

  • Here at Warren Hunting Smith Library, we strive to provide excellent customer service to our patrons.  It's important that you help our students, faculty, staff and community members in a friendly and helpful way.  Our main goal is to make sure they don't leave the desk empty handed!
  • If you do not know the answer to something, ask for help!  We encourage you to direct the patron to a staff member for further assistance.

Patrons Needing Interlibrary Loan Services

Patrons needing materials not owned by our library may request them through interlibrary loan (ILL).  This lending and borrowing of items between libraries gives our users access to a world of materials outside of our collection.  If you are helping a patron at the desk and need to assist them in placing an interlibrary loan request you may refer to these FAQs:

To charge out ILL items to patrons first retrieve them from the Interlibrary Loan shelf (around the corner behind the circulation desk) by matching the patron's name to the name at the top of the slip in the item.  Then charge the item out using the "Illiad Web Circulation" tab at the desktop computer at the circulation desk.  Scan in the barcode at the top of the slip, desensitize the item and tell the patron the due date.
