Instruction Spaces Policy

Instruction Spaces Policy

This policy pertains to the instruction spaces in the Warren Hunting Smith Library which also houses the Rosensweig Learning Commons. The Learning Commons includes the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Digital Learning Center, Information Technology Services, and the Library.

The designated instruction spaces—Writers’ Nook / Learning Studio 1 and Learning Studio 3—are reserved primarily for Learning Commons-sponsored instruction, training, and meetings. These rooms are scheduled through an internal booking system.

Non-Learning Commons faculty, staff, and teaching assistants may use these rooms on a first-come, first-served basis when not reserved or in use by the Learning Commons staff. Writers’ Nook / Learning Studio 1 is prioritized for Writing Fellows and Writing Colleagues in the afternoons and evenings. Users may need to share these spaces with others. Behavior guidelines align with those of the Library’s first floor: collaborative use and discussion are encouraged, food and drink are permitted, and waste must be disposed of in designated bins.
