How can I download an ebook?

There are several ways to download ebooks -- the methods differ from platform to platform. In general, book chapters are always downloaded as .PDF files. This page will offer an overview of downloading, and provide links to further information about three major ebook platforms.

How are ebooks downloaded in different collections?

Methods for downloading entire books and chapters from ebooks differ by the platform (or database):

Note that downloaded books are borrowed or "checked out" and will expire after loan period ends.  Downloaded chapters do not expire.

Downloads in JSTOR


Downloads in JSTOR will all be in PDF format -- readable in any PDF reader (most people have Adobe Acrobat Reader already installed on their laptop).
