Cornell Guest Borrower Card

In cooperation with the Provost's office, the Warren Hunting Smith Library can provide a letter of introduction to the Cornell Libraries, as well as underwriting the cost of a Cornell Guest Borrower card. Faculty should not have any outstanding fines/fees and should have at least 12 months left on their appointment. All requests are subject to the Provost's approval. Cards are normally requested for a twelve-month period and renewals can be obtained by requesting a renewal letter from the Warren Hunting Smith Library.

About guest privileges from Cornell

The Cornell library offers guest borrowing privileges to HWS faculty as 'local residents'. Once you have obtained a letter of introduction from the Warren Hunting Smith Library, faculty must apply in-person at Cornell's Library Public Services Office, 116 Olin Library. You must provide a government-issued picture ID, plus one other form of personal identification along with the letter from HWS. HWS will assume the initial cost of the borrowing card, but faculty remain liable for all additional costs incurred.
