Finding Sports Data

Sports Datasets

Provided by the American Statistical Association, this lists a series of data resources by sport, where data repositories are housed. 

Provided by the U.S. Department of Education, this database focuses on equity in postsecondary athletics, displaying information on enrollment, participants, coaching staff, salaries, revenues, and expenses of colleges and universities in relation to sports. 

Provided by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) this database contains datasets from the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games to the present. 

Primarily focuses on the sports team and player contract data for the NFL, NBA, MLP, NHL, WNBA, golf, soccer, racing, and tennis. Partnered with USA Today Sports Media Group. 

A list of datasets, separated by sport type, organized by the Sports and Society Initiative at Ohio State University. 


eSports Disclaimer: While eSports has existed since the 1970's the recent rise in popularity has created large quantities of data online, most of which has primarily been pulled using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. While there is ample information available, many of the sources do not meet credible academic data standards.
