Using Archives & Special Collections

Duplication

Reproductions (photocopies, digital scans, and photographs) will be made on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Archivist. Many of the items in the collection are in fragile condition and may not be able to be photocopied or scanned. Researchers may use their own digital camera to take pictures of materials.

Reproductions done for researchers who are not current HWS students, faculty, and staff are subject to the following fees (payable by check only):

  • Photocopies: $1.00 per page for black and white photocopies ($5.00 added to the cost of photocopying when sending via postal mail)
  • Digital scans: $1.00 per page
  • Digital images shot with camera: $1.00 per page
  • Special requests may be subject to additional fees

To request a reproduction, please contact the Archives and Special Collections. The Archivist will determine whether the requested items may be duplicated and will inform the researcher of any cost associated with doing so. The researcher must complete a Reproduction Request Form and submit it with any associated payment to the Archives & Special Collections before receiving any reproductions.

Publishing

Permission to publish reproductions of materials owned by the Archives & Special Collections must be obtained from the Colleges. The researcher must fill out a Publishing Request Form and return the completed form to the Archivist for consideration.

The researcher must also obtain permission from the copyright holder before publishing.
